Bronze-Coloured Sculpture of Bull Mastiff Feeding Puppies – Signed Friedrich Wilhelm Wolff (1816–1887)

A wonderful and highly detailed bronze-coloured sculpture depicting a Bull Mastiff mother feeding her two puppies, beautifully modelled with an exceptional level of detail throughout.

The mother is particularly impressive, featuring a finely detailed collar complete with a padlock, while the two puppies are wonderfully captured in a natural and charming scene. The quality of the modelling makes this an eye-catching and decorative piece.

The sculpture is signed to the lower left “W. Wolff”, attributed to Franz Alexander Friedrich Wilhelm Wolff (1816–1887), the celebrated German sculptor and bronze founder known as “Tier-Wolff” (“Animal Wolff”) for his outstanding animal sculptures.

Wolff was particularly renowned for his studies of animals, including dogs, lions and other wildlife, and his work is admired for its realism, character and attention to detail.

The piece is in excellent condition with no damage, and presents beautifully.

A wonderful decorative sculpture that would complement both traditional and contemporary interiors, and would make a particularly appealing addition to any collection of animalier sculpture, bronzes or dog-related antiques.
