A truly handsome antique flame mahogany writing table dating from the Regency period, circa 1820. This elegant freestanding desk combines exceptional craftsmanship with timeless sophistication and would make a stunning centrepiece in any home, study, library, or office.
The beautifully shaped serpentine top is fitted with a black leather writing surface and finished with an exquisite double thumb-carved border. The desk features a large central drawer constructed from solid mahogany with traditional hand-cut dovetail joints, faced in striking burr walnut veneers. The flanking mirrored walnut panels display rich figuring, vibrant colour, and outstanding grain throughout.
One of the most impressive features of this piece is the decorative fretwork to each side, complemented by a beautifully turned central stretcher. The back is fully polished, allowing the table to stand proudly in the centre of a room as a true statement piece.
Raised on four original white porcelain castors, this desk perfectly captures the elegance and refinement of a bygone era.
The piece is presented in excellent condition, having been professionally cleaned, polished, and waxed.
